Armor of God (5 of 6): Are You Armed with the Word and Covered in Prayer?

Armor of God Series: Ephesians 6:17-18 (NKJV)
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints —
Helmets are made to obviously protect your head from deadly blows, the hope of salvation is what protects our heads, or our minds in a spiritual battle. And taking the Sword of the Spirit, is the offensive weapon here. Our offensive weapon against the fight of the enemy is God’s Word. The Greek word used here is “Rhema”, which means spoken word. The spoken Word of God has authority, over death, confusion, damaging blows, etc. The Word of God spoken with Faith, empowered by the Holy Spirit defeats the enemy, Hallelujah!
And Paul includes prayer here in the suit of armor. Even with all of this armor, we still need to go to God, trust in God for His victory through us, relying on His divine intervention. He mentions “all prayer” meaning all types of prayer - public prayer, private prayer, prayers of request, thanks, agreement, intercession. As Christian soldiers, we must be praying always in these ways (not just requesting something over and over), and praying in the Spirit. And then he goes on to add the intercessory prayer for all of our brothers and sisters in Christ (supplication for all the saints).
We must be in constant communication through prayer with God, and keep each other in our prayers as we continue growing in our relationship with Christ, and prepare for daily battles!
